DATEM Water celebrates World Earth Day by conducting a tree planting activity in Barangay Vivo, Tangalan, Aklan.

The initiative aims to contribute to the watersheds’ health and sustainability while providing awareness that will benefit the environment and local community.

DATEM Water employees, barangay Vivo officials and volunteers, local DENR officers, and OJT students from Aklan State University-Ibajay campus joined together for the activity to promote awareness of sustainable practices, especially in watershed areas.

Participants planted more than 200 seedlings comprised of fruit-bearing and forest species like Narra, Mahogany, Pine, Mango, Santol, and Fire Trees.

DENR-PENRO of Aklan capped off the activity with a comprehensive briefing, including adhering to correct techniques for tree survival and growth and its benefits to watersheds.

DATEM Water General Manager Jennifer Vergara-Chan expressed gratitude to the participants for their support and commitment to the activity.

Chan also underscored the importance of stakeholder partnership and collaboration from different communities, local governments, and agencies in forwarding environmental stewardship, such as planting trees.
