DATEM employees composed of safety officers, nurses, HR officers, drivers, CVMD associate, first aiders, document controller, TSG head, and laborers participated in the record-breaking largest human lung formation held at Quirino Grandstand, Manila, on March 16.
With the theme “Tuloy ang Bayanihan, TB ay Tuldukan!”, the Department of Health (DOH), alongside developmental partners including World Health Organization Philippines and USAID, organized the event to raise awareness about TB and eradicate the stigma surrounding the disease.
DATEM was among the 5,596 participants in this historic event in addition to the health workers, 4Ps beneficiaries, students and community members present.
The formation surpassed the Guiness world record set by the Lung Care Foundation and Petronet LNG in New Delhi, India, in 2017 for the largest human image of an organ.

“Nakaka-proud na nag-participate kami as a team and as the first Filipino construction firm sa historic event na ito to break the stigma and provide necessary awareness about TB. Working in construction has possible risks to our respiratory system kaya importante na sa amin magsimula ang pag-promote ng pag-iingat sa kalusugan,” DATEM Health Coordinator Jeff Bendana said.
In 2022, DOH reported at least 447,696 actual tuberculosis cases in the country.
Furthermore, the department also said that the Philippines is the fourth-largest contributor of tuberculosis incident cases, accounting for 7% of the global total.
Despite being a serious health issue, TB can be cured and addressed with the help of proper medication.
The activity is in line with the observance of World Tubercolosis Day on March 24 and to continuously promote the fight against TB.
